Photos by the Webmaster: Page 1
These are photos I took around the early 80's when I was a kid... That's why the quality isn't the greatest. They include photos from a tour I was given of East Joliet Yard, and also photos I took near our old house in Warrenville and other nearby areas.

Subject: South End of Joliet Yard
Location: East Joliet Yard, IL
Date: 1980

Notes: Note the old tower which was eventually removed. Working the south end of the yard is #410. Had I known it at the time I would've gotten more photos, because this unit had new paint, which was the rare yellow/brown mill scheme.

Subject: SD38s #651 & #655 on the Pit
Location: East Joliet Yard, IL
Date: 1980

Notes: Three tracks over are switchers #451 and #450.

Subject: Crane #5 on MoW Train
Location: East Joliet Yard, IL
Date: 1980

Notes: This crane was part of a well maintained work train that was parked on a track near the admin building parking lot. I got the impression it was possibly held in reserve for derailments. The crane car also had the number 8844.

Subject: MoW Train at Administration Building

Notes: This shows the other cars to the right of crane #5, in the same MoW train shown above.

Date: 1980

Notes: I would soon find out why we were getting on these units.

Subject: SD38s #655 & #651 on the Pit
Location: East Joliet Yard, IL
Date: 1980

Notes: I got to take these two for a short spin up and down the pit track. I believe #655 was the actual cab we were in.

Subject: SD38 #653 - Side View
Location: East Joliet Yard, IL
Date: 1980

Notes: Sitting idle alongside the roundhouse.

Subject: SD38 #653 - Front Corner

Subject: SD38-2 #656 & Second SD Eastbound
Location: Warrenville, IL
Date: Early 80's

Subject: Caboose #529 on Eastbound Train
Location: Warrenville, IL
Date: Early 80's

Notes: #529 follows up the rear of the same train as shown above.

Subject: Warrenhurst Siding Switch
Location: Warrenville, IL

Notes: The little known spur at the edge of Warrenville is called Warrenhurst. The switch was still in at the time, but the rails were rusty.

Subject: Warrenhurst Siding

Subject: North Interchange to BN at Eola
Location: Eola, IL
Date: Early 80's

Notes: The J's main to the left passes over the three track BN main below, while the interchange track curving to the right descends down to the BN's Eola Yard.

Subject: BN Eola Yard From Above - West
Location: Eola, IL
